Maia Shanklin Roberts is an associate at Bocarsly Emden. Her practice focuses on affordable housing, where she represents investors in connection with the acquisition, financing and syndication of real estate projects, primarily utilizing the federal low-income housing tax credit.
Ms. Roberts received her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. She is currently a member of the Maryland Bar. Ms. Roberts also received her Master of Community Planning from the University of Maryland’s Urban Studies and Planning Program and her B.A. in Urban Studies from Stanford University.
Ms. Roberts has a robust background in community development. Prior to joining Bocarsly Emden, Ms. Roberts worked with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, the Citywide Coordinating Committee on Youth Violence Prevention in Washington, DC and various local non-profit organizations, develop and implement community development and housing policies to support the social and economic development of low-income communities.
