Pro Bono

Bocarsly Emden believes all people in the communities we serve deserve access to legal representation, regardless of their economic status.

We are proud that the knowledge and skills of our lawyers, paralegals and staff can be used to protect the interests of individuals and nonprofits who may not otherwise have access to quality legal services.

Below is a representative description of the Firm’s pro bono work:

  • Small Business Clinic – we have provided assistance to small business owners on questions related to business formation and real estate issues.
  • Worked with a nonprofit focused on empowering women and girls of color improve their economic mobility to negotiate a new lease and related economic development funding grant to allow an expansion of their services.
  • Assisted a nonprofit working to empower survivors of sexual crimes update their organizational documents to clarify and strengthen their organizational practices.
  • Assisted a nonprofit devoted to rebuilding independence in the lives of older people update their organizational documents to clarify and strengthen their organizational practices.
  • Assisted a young person transitioning out of foster care with understanding their rights under a car loan.
  • Assisted Public Counsel’s Immigrants Right Project with translation services.
